WEEK 5 NEW YORK TO BERMUDA

WEEK 5:   15 MAY 2022 --- NEW YORK   Got all excited to go for our walk early this morning and watch the sail-in on deck 16, but the visibility was zero when we first arrived, could not even see the water right next to the ship. Thank goodness after a few rounds of walking the mist started clearing, so we could at least see some buildings. That was a disappointment and a lesson, do things while you have a chance for you might not get a opportunity again, next week I am leaving and on the morning you leave, you don’t feel like doing all sorts of other things, then it’s getting up early, packing last things, breakfast, disembarking ship and getting to the airport. Hubby is on duty for the day, so it was time to do my last rondloping in this amazing city. I took a different route to the park and passed a church where a service was in progress, so just joined in. I decided to go to Central Park first and had a lovely walk or should I say stroll, for did things slowly today and sat...

WEEK 4 NEW YORK TO BERMUDA

8 May 2022---NEW YORK   The night was rough we were rocking and rolling, everyone walked like crabs, this way, then that way, a guest was enjoying a martini in the observation lounge and nearly fell over when getting up, her comment “Guys I have really just had one drink, believe me, it’s the ship” We had a good laugh.  Going down the steps you held on for dear life, made sure my fingers and toes were not close to any doors and our bathroom door open and closed on its own. I have been lucky that I have not needed any white bags that are out all over the ship when we have rough seas. This lasted all night and only stopped when we picked up the pilot just outside New York City. I woke up when the outside light near our porthole went on and hubby said it’s because they are picking up the pilot. Was worried about the rough seas but he told me they slow down and turn the ship to flatten the water, so they can pick him up. I have been lucky to see them do that but can’t remember whe...

WEEK 3 NEW YORK TO BERMUDA

WEEK 3    1 May 2022--- NEW YORK TO BERMUDA   I was up early this morning to see the immigration officers once we had docked in New York. Things really went smoothly with checking our documents and getting our new weeks keycards etc. I might have forgotten but it just seemed so much easier than before, did not have to collect my new room keycard it was printed and ready. Die mense is wragtig georganiseerd en dinge verloop glad moet vir hulle 10/10 gee, wat dit betref. Eintlik n plesier, think i have got used to things being chaotic at home or you are ready for the worst scenario.  Just before we left the ship the couple in front of me moaned about everything, the food, the staff en wie weet wat, too far to walk to get off, just thought to myself do you really get people that are so unthankful? We have just survived a pandemic, there is a war going on and all you can do is moan and complain. After this lot ,a beautiful thing happened, a little girl that was getting of...
